Ingredients

Dough
  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 4 ½ tsps active dry yeast
  • ¾ cup warm water
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup vegetable oil
  • ½ cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 tsp salt
Filling
  • ½ ½ head cabbage, finely shredded
  • 1 tbsp oil (for sautéing)
  • salt and pepper to taste

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Skillet
  • Baking pan
  • Knife
  • Cutting board
  • Measuring cups
  • Rolling Pin

Method

  1. Prepare the Dough

In a large bowl combine warm water and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Mix the Dough

Add flour, egg, oil, condensed milk, and salt. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead and Let Rise

Knead the dough for 8–10 minutes until smooth. Cover and let it rise in a warm place for about 30–40 minutes until doubled in size.
  4. Prepare the Cabbage Filling

Heat oil in a skillet and sauté shredded cabbage until lightly golden and softened. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Shape the Bread

Divide the dough into squares and place a portion of cabbage filling in the center of each piece. Fold the dough over the filling and seal the edges.
  6. Second Rise

Place the shaped breads on a greased baking tray and let them rise again for 30 minutes.
  7. Bake

Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Cool and Serve

Let the bread cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Finely shred the cabbage so it distributes evenly in the dough.
  • Do not skip the second rise; it helps create a soft texture.
  • Brush the top with milk or butter before baking for a golden crust.
